The Advisory Council consists of prominent experts in various disciplines related to the effect of commercialization and other factors on the academic integrity of intercollegiate athletics. Members serve three year renewable terms with a limit of two consecutive terms. Members are asked to provide advice upon request, to participate on committees if they have an interest, and to review proposed position papers or other publications related to their area of expertise. The Council meets once per year. A member may be removed at any time for failure to participate or other reasons.
