Positions and Issues

In September of 2022, The Drake Group established a sister organization and gifted all of its educational materials on issues in college athletics to THE DRAKE GROUP EDUCATION FUND. Below please find links to all of those materials. The Drake Group is focusing all of its efforts on educating members of the U.S. Congress and other legislative bodies to advance laws and policies that will improve intercollegiate athletics – better educational outcomes, comprehensive health and safety protection, and mechanisms that address critical issues such as gender inequities and racial exploitation. The Drake Group Education Fund is responsible for the research and development of these educational materials while The Drake Group is responsible for disseminating them to members of Congress and those who seek collegiate athletics governance reform.

Official Policy Positions
Position papers represent an official stance of The Drake Group and The Drake Group Education Fund on an issue in intercollegiate athletics. Position statements are created on an ‘as needed’ basis by The Drake Group Education Fund usually in reaction to multiple media or public requests, in response to recurring events, and/or as part of proactive education and media campaigns focused on needed intercollegiate athletics governance association reforms.

Issues
The Drake Group Education Fund collects articles consistent with the missions of The Drake Group and The Drake Group Education Fund that address the major issues facing intercollegiate athletics. This library is a COLLECTION BY TOPIC of all content so that readers can search by topic rather than purpose.

Editorials and Opinions
Members of The Drake Group and The Drake Group Education Fund and its Advisory Council are frequently called upon to produce editorials, blogs, or opinion pieces. If such writings are consistent with official policy positions of each organization and deemed to contribute important information to the understanding of an intercollegiate athletics issue, they are selected to be displayed on the Drake website. The authors of such publications are responsible for the content of these articles.
