Call each of your two Senators. Simply ask the person who answers the phone to record your position on S. 6448 [every office keeps a tally sheet about constituent calls on specific legislation], by delivering the following or a similar message:
“I am a constituent of the Senator’s from [city] and would like to leave a message about S.46688, the Protect College Sports Act, which will be coming up for a vote before the August recess. I am urging the Senator to:
- Oppose the addition of the $22.5 million Retention Fund, which will more than double the “pay-for-play” pro sports model of the NCAA vs. House settlement, increasing the cost of college athletics programs without expenditure restraints.
- Mandate that athletes be able to apply for medical or mental health waivers of the new 5-year eligibility rule rather than leaving it to the NCAA to decide whether it wishes to allow such waivers.
- Require public disclosure by the institution of scholarship, NIL payments, revenue pool, and retention pool payments in the aggregate by sport team”.
